My name is Tony Burroughs. Many of you know me as Dr Luvjoy, the voice behind Dr Luvjoy's Quiet Storm.
I want listeners to know who I am, including the difficult parts of my story, because I believe honesty and accountability matter.
In 2019, I was convicted in Hawaiʻi of sexual assault in the third degree. I accept responsibility for what happened.
Sexual assault is serious. I recognize that sexual harm can affect people and families in ways that last far beyond the incident itself. I do not minimize that reality.
I have completed my sentence and am no longer under probation or parole supervision. I understand, however, that completing a sentence does not erase the past or remove my responsibility for my actions.
I cannot change what happened. I can choose how I conduct my life moving forward.
I believe that accountability requires more than words. It requires respecting boundaries, treating people with dignity, and making responsible choices consistently.
I also recognize that forgiveness is personal. No one owes me forgiveness, understanding, or support.
Music has been an important part of my life. Through my original recordings and radio programming, I want to bring encouragement, comfort, and connection to people.
That includes individuals who are incarcerated, their families, and people facing difficult moments in life.
My goal is to contribute something meaningful while remaining accountable for my history.
I am proud of the station I have built and the music I create. But I do not believe that those accomplishments erase past harm.
I understand that some people may decide not to support me, and I respect their choice.
My commitment is to continue living responsibly, respecting others, and using music to offer hope without losing sight of the importance of accountability.
Thank you for taking the time to read my message.
